<1950년 5월13일생이며 본명은 Stevelan judkins.
선천적인 시각장애를 딛고 천재적인 음악성으로
전세계 음악팬들을 사로잡은 최고의 Soul주자,
스티비 원더. 7살때 피아노를, 9살때 드럼과 하모니카를
마스터한 그는 교회 성가대에서 활동하면서
가스펠(Gospel) 의 영향을 받았다.
1961년에 Motown Record사 오디션에 합격한 그는
본명을 little Stevie Wonder라 칭호로 바꿨는데 "little"은
64년경 떨어져나가서 지금의 스티비원더로 불리게 되었다.
12살 나이에 [Fingertips]를 발표했으나
자신의 색을 찾지 못하고 방황했다. 7
0년대 이후부터 스티비원더는
마빈 게이 전처를 밟았지만 방향은 달리갔다.
흑인음악 최초로 신디사이저를 사용했던 그는
인종차별과 영적인 문제 사랑과 이별 등 폭넓은
가사로 팬들을 찾아갔다. 신디사이저의 맛을 가장 잘
소화한 노래는 싱글 차트 1위를 점령한
[Superstition] 이다. 1982년 [The Woman in red]의
soundtrack중에 수록된 "I just to call to say I love you"
는 엄청난 반응을 불러일으켰다
